Happy Last Year
The year the map folded back on itself: Gibraltar to Sussex, Portsmouth to publishing, the travel archive to the truth engine.
The year did not settle. It converged.
2025 began at a gateway and ended at a doctrine. Gibraltar reopened the maritime map. Sussex put the body back into the writing. Portsmouth returned iron, sail, speed, and Skyelark to the waterline. Then the old journeys became books, the books became a body of work, and the body of work became a harder idea: training should not decorate reality. It should expose it.
I like writing about my travels, but I don’t like the paperwork. So I blog — literature in a hurry, right?
Gibraltar opened the archive.

Sussex reduced the year to first principles: coast, weather, distance, attention. More than seventy miles along pebble beaches, chalk cliffs, river mouths, and old castles. The route became the page.

The Sussex Coastline Experience
After 109 days at sea, we sailed through the English Channel to see the magnificent white chalk cliffs of England.
Portsmouth returned the story to the waterline.
HMS Warrior’s iron hull. HMS Victory’s legend. Foiling cats that fly. The Camber held all of it at once: naval history, racing memory, harbour weather, and Skyelark meeting the working waterfront.
Even when the foils are out of the water, things get fast very quickly. The old lesson still holds: smooth is fast.
